Deliberately Overstating your meter reading

EON just billed me without querying it. I rang to explain the error and asked why their systems weren't programmed to make credibility checks on customers meter readings. They said it just goes on what you enter [no matter how stupid].
That is not normally the case as many on this Board will testify. The 'Computer' will often ignore customer meter readings(and even from meter readers) if it 'thinks' there is a mistake and bases the bill on an estimated reading.0
