Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!! EMA Application!

I sent my daughters EMA application off on the 26th June and have never recieved any acknowledgement, let alone her NOE. I have rang several times but have been told each time that there they currently taking longer than expected to work through applications.

We have just been to college to enrole and they said there must be a problem as its taking so long and to call them again and be firm!

So, I've just done this and according to them there is no way of tracking an application and no way of telling if it arrived with them!

I am really mad now, no superviser was available so the woman took my details and someone will call me back, probably in about 48 hours and probably to tell me the same thing!

Surly this can't be right? I am panicking that her application hasn't even arrived, should I send off another just in case (I got one from college) She starts in just a few days and money can't be backdated.

Does anyone know how long it should take?

Thanks

Sarah

There was a mix up with my daughters 2 years ago and it was backdated 2 weeks,so they obviously can do it.

i really wouldn't worry just been through 2 years of ema and both years i didn't get my NOE back from ema till novemeber.. Then the 2nd year i didn't get paid till Febuary as EMA thought my college didn't exist :rotfl: but when they got it all sorted i got the lump sum form the weeks i missed out. So don't worry, the most you can do is just phone and complain without me doing that i dunno if it would have even got sorted this year.
Going into last year of uni. What to do next?
  • Hi

I hope thats still true but college said it couldn't be back dated, at least I know it has happened in some cases though, so thanks!

Two full calendar months seems a stupid amount of time to be waiting!

Sarah the colleges can be very awkward-we were told that they couldn't backdate,we argued and told them what we had been told by the ema people, college wouldn't backdate full amount-apparently they do have some discretionary powers which they tend to use in their own favour. As it was deemed partly my fault for not chasing earlier my daughter lost 2 or 3 weeks, but as tis is not your fault at all you should get the full amount.

  • Thanks SuziQ, there is nothing to prove that I have called previously because they said they couldn't chase it up so never took my name or anything.

Judging by some other experiances on here, I'm not hopeful that it will come anytime soon now, maybe I should send a second application? But I don't want this to be confused with the first and for them to say they cannot backdate it as it was sent way to late.

I wouldn't mind but I thought I had sent it in really good time, I kept ringing/calling in at connexions for the application to be told it was too early, then sent it off as quick as I could when I did get it, but there was a pile of NOEs at college from other students so I don't know why ours is taking so long?

hi, i sent my sons application in june and hadnt heard anything so i rang them yesterday and was told someone will ring me back in 2-3 working days, my son enroled yesterday!
  • Thanks mummytofour.

Yorksbabe, were you told the same thing as me that they couldn't track an application? I had to really push for them to take my details, even now I don't think they are going to see whats happening with it. Did you get any acknowledgement that its been recieved? Thanks.

  • I have phoned the EMA helpline twice now as my son sent his form off in early July & we haven't heard a thing back. Both of the people I have spoken to have told me that there is a backlog & not to worry! they also said they couldn't check the progress of individual applications.

My son enrolled at college yesterday & was asked if he had an EMA notice of authorisation & when I told them that we have applied but not heard anything they weren't at all surprised & just told ds to bring his form in when it arrives.
