printer roller problems

Options
Hi
I have an HP printer that there is nothing wrong with apart from the printer rollers dont seem to have enough grip to pull photo paper or card. I have tried getting replacement rollers but they arent made. Does anyone have any ideas or tricks they have done themselves to sort this problem.
Thanks

Which model printer is it ?

Do you just print onto paper, or have you also used labels in there too ?

The rollers may just needed cleaned.

First send through some thick card, this makes sure that the path the paper takes is clear of debris.

Next, If you can get access to the rollers then take a damp cloth and run it over the rollers. that will get rid of most of the dust 'n' dirt on the rollers. Feed some paper through the printer to make sure the rollers are not too damp then they should start to grip again.

(*NOTE* Some people use damp (Not soggy!) card and feed it through the printer but as i don't know the make or model I'm not sure it it is safe to do that on your printer!!)

  • Its a HP PSC 1350 and I have tried cleaning the rollers with cleaning product for the job.

I am trying to print photo paper and card that I managed previously but it stops after feeding about about a centimetre.

I too have one of these, sent through some thicker paper/card to print on for a project and it now has a mind of its own, switch it on and a piece of paper goes through on its own and if i want to print something a piece of paper goes throigh before and after the printed piece, and sometimes it just chews it up. Any thoughts before it goes to the tip, bit of a shame, just bought new carts!
  • Clean pickup rollers with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) from a friendly chemist or Maplins. Pointless trying card to clean or clear a paper path.

The paper/card may be too heavy, in gsm terms, check the manual. Try fewer sheets in the paper tray. Turn the card over, there's two sides and one is rougher than the other and offers more grip.
