I quite fancy getting a scooter for fun but I dont know anything about them! I have a vision of a vespa in pink ( not that I say they even do them in pink!).. I have never ridden a scooter but do have a full driving licence. Am I being barking mad? I would love if somebody would tell me all they know.
Many thanks:beer:

If you passed your car test prior to feb 2001 you can ride a scooter/moped up to 50cc without doing a CBT, cumpolsory basic training, although it might be worth doing anyway, around £100. Above 50 cc and you will need to do the CBT anyway.
My lad has a Peugeot 50cc and it has been great, I love borrowing it this time of year and nipping into the City Centre, free parking, 60+ to the gallon, I'm surprised they haven't caught on more. insurance costs him £300 a year but he is only 16, tax is £15. It is restricted to 30MPH but you can barely get above that round here anyhow.
My local dealer has THIS on display, think it is Indian or Chinese so maybe not the best it does have a 2 year warranty and a list price of £1250 otr.0 -
Don't do 50cc if you are over 16 - which obviously you aren't if you have a full licence. 50cc scooters are restricted to 30mph and will put you into conflict with faster traffic in 40mph or faster speed limits. Go for a 100cc plus. A 125cc scooter will do 60-70mph on the flat with relative ease meaning you can keep up with traffic in most circumstances.0

I'd go for something capable of at least 50-60mph even if 40 is the most you will do and do the CBT.
You can get all electric scooters that can do as much as 60mph with a range of 50 miles. The acceleration leaves even big bikes struggling to keep up until they get going.
Your looking in the £2500 (30mph) to £6000 range (60mph) for something good. Pricey but does save money if you keep it long enough and do a lot of miles on it.0
