Ryanair and Electron Cards

  • Hi MelB.

I am assuming the Electron Card from a Barclays account should be accepted as the one I have is the Barclays giftcard - one of those pre-paid ones.

Since it was useless on RyanAir, I am trying to use up the balance, and it wasn't accepted on the Travelodge site either. Not used it in many places but Tesco does accept it.
  • hi, i opened a halifax account - EasyCash i think its called. 2 mins to fill out the online application, Electron card arrived within a week. HTH

If Barclays tells you that they can issue a Visa Electron card with your account, I wouldn't believe them until you are actually holding a card with Visa Electron printed on it. See this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1115103

Like many other people I opted for the Halifax Easycash account. Very easy to apply for online and it was all set up quickly. The Co-op cashminder account also seems to be popular (largely because you can make payments/withdrawals at post office branches).
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

thanks for your replies. the post office one would be good but is it right you have to put about £250 to set up. I was going to go into a Halifax branch this lunchtime as I read somewhere it was much quicker than online. those cheap flights won't be around forever!!!
