in Credit cards
Hi all
I recently bought £1600 worth of computer components from Overclockers.co.uk.
They sent out most of the order on the 7th and the final component was sent out on the 19th August (7days ago). Upon receipt of the major components I tested the components and discovered the motherboard was faulty.
The same day I contacted Overclockers and was given an RMA number. I sent the board back.
7 days later they have informed me that the same board is on its way back to me still faulty because it had coolant on the board. The board is supplied with watercooling equipment and is designed to use coolant. The reason for coolant being on the board is because it is impossible to drain the system 100% but we are talking about less than Millilitres here AND the coolant is 100% non conductive!
On googling around I have discovered that there returns policy and after sales are a joke, take a look http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1714-p2-s1-d1.html
They claim that I do not qualify for distance purchase or cooling off period as I have not put it in writing within seven days (snakes) but the order was not complete until 7 days ago… (therfore still in distance purchase ??)
I am contemplating two options.
a) Try to ask my credit card company do a part charge back for £234.99
or
b) Sue them online for £234.99 + expenses.
What do you guys think?

I'd go for option A
I'd write to the company and inform them of your intention to claim back from your credit card under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 unless you are refunded within 7 days. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Speak to your credit card company, tell them the facts and see what they say.
If they agree to chargeback , go ahead and get your cash back.
Imho you have paid for faulty/defective goods, 12 months rtb is usual time.
Phone cc asap.Control is an illusion, chaos is the reality. A successful warrior dances with chaos, and success means simply that one is still alive.0 -
Thanks guys just coinfirmed my suspicions. They look like a right bunch of cowboys! I could send the board to ASUS (manufacturers) but i heard they dont have an RMA process for UK customers.
I will let you know what happens.0 -
I would never go near that firm at all, I have heard so many bad things about them0
-
Just a quick note, on their forums if anyone posts any problems they have with OCUK customer service it quickly gets deleted by the moderaters (i.e the ocuk staff)
I ordered my last 2 computers (as components) through them and the second order I had to phone them to confirm some parts i'd ordered, the bloke was the snottiest most unhelpful pr*ck i ever spoke to! I don't know how they are still in business!
Use their forums (quite informative and helpful) to find out what you need to build your computer, then go to the numerous other sites to buy the bits!!!0 -
HA. like it. well just to keep you in the loop i called mastercard told them the story and they have refunded the entire order of £1600. result. now i have the board back aswell. i am sure they will be eager to get in touch in order to resolve the situation with me.
R E S U L T ! !
I will happily pay for the working gear and send them the board back but will never deal with them again. i must spend about £10k a year on computer parts for myself, the company and my friends. Their loss is micro directs gain i suppose!0 -
I've used them numerous times in the past and the only time I had a problem it was quickly resolved once the item was returned. I was intending on buying some new stuff from them but after reading this might look elsewhere.0

there are cheaper places! Just involves a bit of hunting! I do recommend their forums though, very handy
Don't pay a penny for it lol now its been refunded, keep all the stuff they sent you and see what happens!0
