Selling my Ebay account

Has anybody ever sold an actual Ebay account? I'm interested in selling mine as I've got two accounts, I've got nearly 800 posi feedbacks on the one I want to sell, it must have a value...

    It's expressly against the eBay user agreement to transfer an account without their permission. The only way it can happen is if it is being sold as part of a business transaction/takeover, and even then it's supposedly a nightmare to get ebay to agree to it.

    While using eBay, you will not:

    *

    post, list or upload content or items in an inappropriate category or areas on our sites;
    *

    breach any laws, sell any counterfeit items or otherwise infringe the copyright, trade mark or other rights of third parties;
    *

    breach our policies including, without limitation, the Prohibited and Restricted Items policies and the other policies linked to from the "Additional terms" section below;
    *

    fail to deliver payment for items purchased by you, unless the seller has materially changed the item's description after you bid, a clear typographical error is made, or you cannot authenticate the seller's identity;
    *

    fail to deliver items purchased from you, unless the buyer fails to meet the posted terms, or you cannot authenticate the buyer's identity;
    *

    manipulate the price of any item or interfere with other user's listings;
    *

    circumvent or manipulate our fee structure, the billing process, or fees owed to eBay;
    *

    post false, inaccurate, misleading, defamatory, or libellous content (including personal information);
    *

    take any action that may undermine the feedback or ratings systems (such as displaying, importing or exporting feedback information to non-eBay sites or for using it for purposes unrelated to eBay);
    *

    transfer your eBay account (including feedback) and user ID to another party without our consent;

    That's not to say that some people do not try...

    Think about who would want to buy that account.

    Then think about who they would want to rip off using it.
    My TV is broken! :cry:
    Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    Who's to say that a buyer would be dishonest? Maybe a startup, legit business would find the account very useful.

    Yes, I'm aware it's against Ebay rules etc etc, but erm...so what?

    Well if you don't mind having all your accounts suspended, then go for it.

    You are more trusting than me then as you need to hand it over with bank details etc still live, you can't remove all your details from it until they are replaced by the new buyer. So, lets just think this through, a dodgy seller wants a premade 'good' account so you hand over your details to this dodgy seller...hmm.

  • Feedback isn't worth much, you can build up 50 or so in no time and by that point you can get full £500 protection.

    ...and to be honest when we started a new account we saw very little 'trust issues'.

    The only details on the account are my address. I've got no bank details or credit cards on file because it's an older account and Ebay didnt require compulsory direct debit then. I've only ever paid fees via a one off payment via Paypal. The buyer couldnt access my paypal account as he would need the password.
    If I do sell I would require the buyer to give me an address so I could change it before emailing him the pass.
    As far as I can see there is no way somebody could require any further details through 'My Ebay'.
    And anyway if somebody was a 'dodgy seller' why would they spend money on buying an account only to receive neg feedback and have the account closed? Surely they would create an account from scratch, get a handful of positives then do their 'dodgy deeds'?
    Thanks for your advice.

    Imagine you are a noob on ebay.

    You see somebody sell a 42" HD Plasma TV for £500 but they only have 25 feedback. Very good price, but you don't trust the feedback.

    You then see somebody with the same TV at the same price, but they have 800 feedback. "I can trust them - they have loads of feedback and they must have worked really hard for it, with lots of happy buyers behind them."

    Actually, no, it's a scamming chav who's bought the account with the sole intention of ripping off people on the pretence that they are a trusted seller.

    There seems to be a trait of threads recently where people are blatantly disregarding the rules and T&C's of ebay, as well as other sites or businesses, and they really do not care about the possible consequences of their actions.

    Is this what MSE is becoming? How far will people go with trying to to game the system? Chav culture spreads like a virus in todays society.
