Not sure I can help but to Gatwick from where? It's quite easy to get to Gatwick from Cardiff. Not from, say, Rhayader I imagine.

How would you get there on your own?

    Thanks for the replies.

I imagine taxi's would be very expensive.

Coach travel is through the night and takes almost 5 hours and then were on a 12 hour flight

Train takes 8 hours and it stops in bristol for 4 hours.

    Any other ideas? Thanks

When I went to Gatwick last year I hired a car in Cardiff and dropped it off at Gatwick. I then did the opposite coming home. It's more expensive than a normal rental but it wasn't too bad. I don't know if you could do the same thing with a minibus.

Flightlink Wales will take you all from Cardiff to Gatwick and back again for around £480. So a bit more than fifty sovs each, return. But like I said, I don't know where you are.

Megabus from Cardiff to London is cheap. I guess you could then get a bus to Gatwick for not too much money. If your group includes kids, and you've lots of luggage, that would be a headache. If not it might be OK.

We use an airport transfer company because it is quick, easy and door to door, and it means we can sleep most of the way there and back - a huge bonus on early / late flights.
When we added up return petrol + 14 nights parking the £270 return trip Swansea/ Gatwick was very good value. (2 people, normal car)
There are economies of scale too, so 9 will not be 4.5 x dearer than 2 people.
