DELL computers - unsolicited calls

I have had THREE calls this week from Dell computers, all from men with Scottish accents. Each time they ring they claim not to be the person who rang previously and today's had the nerve to tell me I COULDNT be registered with TPS or he wouldnt have rung me. He refused to give his name, only the phone number. I have completed a complaint form on the TPS website (we have been registered for years) but I notice that it isnt TPS who prosecute. Does anybody know what happens after you complain? Does ANYTHING happen?

"Under Government legislation introduced on 1st May 1999 and replaced on 11th December 2003 by the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, it is unlawful to make unsolicited direct marketing calls to individuals who have indicated that they do not want to receive such calls."
It is the ICO who are the body responsible for enforcement.

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Do I have to inform them then?

I got a call from a man with a scottish accent yesterday from Dell, trying to sell me an extended warranty on my Dell PC (even though the warranty does not run out until June next year!)0

IT lloks like you need to make your complaint to the ICO direct, they have a complaints form here:

So did I! I just hung up when they mentioned extended warranty.0 -
Ellie2758, your post made me laugh -sorry! I am Scottish but the calls I get from Dell seem to be from downtown Bombay or thereabouts. They could at least try matching accents to areas!0

I had the devils own job getting Dell to stop sending me junk mail. I phoned - it came, I wrote - it came, I emailed - it came.
In the end I sent a 35 page single word to a page fax in 115 font Times New Roman capitals underlined & hurray no more junk mail from Dell

Have you ever bought something from Dell? If so, you might have signed up for future marketing/sales calls, unless you ticked the box to opt-out - but these days, you have to tick a box to opt IN.
If you have ever bought from Dell and now want to opt out, you need to contact Dell and not TPS. TPS only deal with completely unsolicited calls and not calls that arise from previous contact with a company, where you agreed (albeit without realising it) that they could contact you.Warning .....
