My wonderful husband has managed to break our pc! Not sure how, its obviously a natural talent he has equired! Im looking to get a new one.
Does any one have any idea what the best processor i should get and what sort of memory etc should i be looking for? I need it to be fairly fast and efficient. Many thanks in advance! Trina :wall:

Trina - the big question is: What do you want to use it for?
I find the Celeron processor plenty fast enough for home/office/surfing the Net. If you want a gaming machine then possibly it's better to go for a Pentium IV. Again the RAM size depends on the intended use. For Broadband Internet I think 512MB is minimum these days for fast operation.
If you want to play the latest games on it then you also have to make sure you get a decent video card.
For a cheap, basic PC have a look at this post:

All depends on what you will be using it for.
If you just use Microsoft Office, storing digital photos and the internet etc then get a cheap Dell Pentium 4 (Min 2.8 GHz) with plenty of RAM (min 512) and a big hard disk (very min 80). Onboard sound and graphics *should* be ok for this.
If anyone needs it to play games and do video / photo editing then you'll need to make sure you get a graphics card too. Would suggest (very min) 3Ghz P4, 1 gig ram (min) and 120GB hard disk (min).
Would suggest min 17" tft monitor (steer clear of old and dated CRT) maybe an onsite warranty if your husband is really good at breaking PC's but worst Dell do is 1 year Return To Base!
I like Dell, they have good deals on every now and then, so keep an eye out. Most people love Dell or hate them so you will get some people who say don't go with them.
Hope this helps

I've always been under the impression that the best PC to get is the fastest one you can afford, as it won't need updating so often.0

All depends on useage. If you're going to send a few emails and browse the web you don't need an all singing all dancing PC. However, if you want to play graphically intensive games then yes you need the best you can afford.
Besides its not just processor speed you need to be aware ofBaby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
