It's less than a year old and was a replacement, for the original one we bought, which was very very noisy. No one told us, until after we bought, that frost free models make some funny noises - and ours certainly did.
This new one has now decided to produce a build up of of ice on one corner of the bottom of the freezer. I assume 'frost free' also means 'ice free' - only joking.
Anyone else found the noise problems and any build up of ice problems. When the first one went wrong it took us three service call outs for the retailer to agree to a replacement.

I've never had ice - but ours give off some mightily noisy bangs - which can give you the fright of your life!0

The first and worst was late one night watching TV and the noise sounded like someone jumping on an empty 2 litre water bottle.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. the loud bangs are normal for frost free...apparently its the ice defrosting. My dad lives in a small bungalow and his bedrooms right next to his kitchen.....he thought it was a shotgun going off!
You need to get that call in to the repair centre regarding the ice build up, while its still in warranty.0 -
We had a similar problem, ice forming under the freezer drawer, as it was under 1 year old got an engineer to call round --was a problem with drainage, hope this helps.0

Hello,
We bought a frost free fridge freezer last year and had a similar problem. We called C*met out to fix and the engineer said that frost free fridge freezer still have to be defrosted every now and then. Apparently, if they are left open for a long time(perhaps when unloading shopping) on a hot day, the freezer tries to compensate and 'quick freeze' when you close it and as a result, the drain gets blocked and rather than draining away, drains to the bottom of the freezer and turns into ice. He defrosted it with a steam cleaner type thing and I haven't had the same problem since (touch wood).
Not sure if this is the same in your case but, worth a try!Official DFW Member 716 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Engineer came out today and said the fridge/freezer needed levelling up side to side and front to back. Sorry but NO way did I buy that explanation. He was quite dour but more animated trying to sell an extended guarantee insurance!A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build.
