can i connect xbox and computer?

Hi, We have wired up my sons xbox using a long ethernet cable from my router downstairs. He also has a computer running with a wireless adapter. My question is, can I wire up the computer so that the xbox and computer run smoothly (at the minute the computer keeps losing connection) As you can tell i'm not techie at all!!

If the wireless is on the fringe of it's range then seeing as though you already have an ethernet cable running into the room then I'd suggest putting a network switch in the room and running both the xbox and the computer off the wired connection. Something like this would be what you need:

Shop around though as you'll probably find it cheaper and with free delivery too.

Thanks, so, trying to understand. I would still use my router downstairs to enable my other son to connect to his computer with his wireless adapter (never been a problem with his). Then in the other room (where the xbox and 3rd computer is) I would connect the ethernet cable to one of the switches you have shown me, and the xbox live and the computer would work. Am I right?

That's right. Connect the cable from downstairs, the xbox and the 3rd computer into the switch.
