Loss of an item paid for by credit card

in Credit cards
I bought a camcorder in September 2007 from Curry's and paid with my credit card. I have just discovered that my camcorder was left in a taxi when I returned from holiday and has now long gone. Am I covered by my credit card to claim insurance?

Well you are not covered by any legislation but it is possible that the card offers some sort of additional insurance to cover loss\theft\damage.
I was once able to claim for some clothes that were stolen because I had paid for the clothes on a Credit Card with such insurance. However this was a few years ago and I seem to recall that the cover only extended for 3 months from date of purchase, you really need a policy that will cover you for 12 months.
Have a look at all the documentation that you have with the card to see if there is any accidental damage\loss insurance cover. If you have this cover it will be documented somewhere.

Do you have travel insurance for the holiday? that might be an easier process. If not then I guess you need to get your documentation out and get reading as NickX suggests.0

Thank you for your prompt replies. I will look at my travel insurance first because the loss was at the end of my holiday.0

The problem i think you might have if you think you are covered is that you did not report the loss immediately - this might be a get out clause for the insurance.0
