our fridge freezer has broken four weeks out of warranty, the engineer just left - the part would cost more than the f/f cost in the first place!
his advice - skip it.
not very environmentally friendly for an A rated appliance.
am gutted - its so new and shiny still!
do i have any comeback with the supplier or manufacturer?
thank you

Look at this link and telephone them as I have found them excellent at such matters. Others, on the forum, have found them very useful. I am sure there is something about 'sale of goods' where the item must have a life expectancy which is normal for that product.
Bear in mind if they give a time limited guarantee your rights, under our law, override this period.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

looks like i do have rights, hes told me about template letters on their site, consumer credit act, section 75 and that as was paid by credit card they are jointly liable as the the item is not of satisfactory quality.
off for a word with shop manager now, then will send letters if no luck.
thank you!0 -

Would be good to hear eventual outcome so we can all learn.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -
thanks for that, sorry its taken so long havent had chance to sit down last few days! our is a whirpool. the same thing the compressor but were told would be £270 for the part! that was from the whirlpool engineer, am shocked - how can it cost that much when the whole thing was £279? were in worcester so sadly dont think he will come this far, shame though, i cant seem to get anyone to come out to us.
had a chat with the manager, and he was very helpful. wasnt sure what could be done but promised he would speak to head office for me. within an hour of being home he phoned me to say that they have a department that deals with out of warranty and all i need to do is get an independent quote and send it in and they will send me vouchers to get a new one. still not very environmentally friendly but a result nonetheless, will stick it on freecycle see if anyone wants it, you never know!
hope its as easy as it sounds, even the store manager was suprised!
got one out of local paper for £35, wish we did that last year now, its great! incidentally thats a beko!0
