YB Basic Bank Account Help

About 3/4 years ago I had an account with YB and got into about 2.5k of debt with it.
I buried my head in the sand and it ended up going off to a DCA. When it did that, I paid it off in full.
Now I need a basic bank account and after reading YB was good for them, I decided to try and open one. Now I've got an appointment at 2pm but I was just wondering whether they did a full credit check for a basic account and if there was any chance of me being accepted?

I have been with YB for a few years and have their basic Readycash account, which comes with a Maestro card. Personally, I think they will do an Internal check before they do a credit check with a credit reference agency. The fact it was sent to a DCA will be marked down.
I used to bank with Natwest, then due to circumstances it went to their collections dept. Now this was over 4 years ago, I had the thought would I be able to get an account with them again? I was put through to a dept and was told: You may get a Step account opened (a basic account) but a week later when they do further checks the account would be closed!

Surely the fact the debt is now satisified would be a better marker than not being paid at all?! I'm just unsure of whether to go back for the appointment or not0

Yes it's in your favour the debt was paid, but to a bank you defaulted and it will be on your credit file for 6 years. I would keep the appointment and explain would they open a readycash account? This account may be scored in a different way to a FULL current account!
Good luck;)0 -
I kept my appointment and was totally honest with the guy. He checked and said he could see I had a CCJ which was now satisfied but no other outstanding debts. So he said it was fine and completed the application.
So now I have a bank account and savings account for the first time in years. Very happy now0 -
