BR back to haunt me....help!

Has anyone experienced or know what happens in this case??? Help very much appreciated
In October 2006 I left my property and started procedings for bancrupty, the house was eventually reposessed (I dont know when as I was not living there) I received letters (redirected to temporary address) from the Gas comapny saying they are going to cut off the supply, I told them I didnt live there and could not afford the bill and that I was due to become backrupt. I heard nothing more from them - my bankrupty was April 2007 and was discharged in December 2007. I have now received a letter today from WESCOT Credit Services who say they found matching data from CALLCREDIT (in my maiden name - I have been married for a year) as a possible forwarding address for me. I presume that this is my old Gas bill they are refering to and I stated this debt in my bancrupty. I am wanting to know if I am still responsible for the bill....any advice would be helpfull.

This is one of the type of debts that would be included in your BR and therefore you are no longer liable, it was included. If you want you can send a copy of your BR order to Westcot, but the gas debt is no longer valid, they are just trying it on, so don't worry.:)Do not feed the trolls please.0

As Pixie says, you are no longer liable.

Hi,
This happened to me after I went BR. 3 BR debts 'found me' at my new address. Just gave them my BR no. and never heard anything again. Remember you are not liable for any of the normal BR debts that were due before the date of your BR, even if you didnt put them on the forms.

This is typical scare tactics - they probably bought the debt for a few quid and are hoping to scare you into making a payment. Even a 'small' payment like a tenner and they would be quids in!
Like everyone else says, give them your BR number and then ignore them!BCSC Member 70:j

To be fair, you're just one in a pile of debts purchased for pennies in the pound.
The BR info kills it stone dead.
Just thought I'd add my twopenneth just in case the previous 10 answers weren't enough. Isn't it nice when everyone agrees?
Over on the House Price forum nobody agrees - a very unsociable bunch.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
