Proof of residence?

I've just reserved a flat and the letting agency require proof of I.D. and residency.. I can provide a passport but as I'm coming from my parent's address, I can't provide a utility bill or council tax bill, which is the two forms of proof they mention. They also say bank statements and benefit vouchers not accepted.

I've contacted them about this, but I was wondering whether anyone has any clues as to what I could provide? Is there some way of getting a letter from the council or electoral roll and how long would that take? Thanks! :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
I had to provide a proof of residence in Londn when I needed a parking permit. As the bills were not payable by me and there was no mortgage or rntal agreement (and the electoral register was in the process but going to take a while) I went to a solicitor and made a statutory declaration. I'm not sure whether this would be acceptable to the letting agency but its worth a try.

If it is phone around different solicitors' offices. The cost might vary dramatically;)
  • No, I don't have a driver's license, but I do have a contract bill. Thanks for that, I hadn't thought of it! I'm also copying my recent electoral poll card. Hopefully that will be okay and I won't need to get the statutory declaration (thanks for that advice though, I had no idea you could do that :D)!

many banks dont accept mobile phone bills as proof of ID. not sure if the LA will accept it though. passport plus electoral card should suffice i guess

offer them a copy of your passport & national insurance number, that should keep them happy, as you are traceable with that info.
