Over the last few weeks, I've had a couple of cold calls from withheld numbers from companies (I think it might be the same one for reasons I will get to in a minute) offering to help deal with debts with that little-known government legislation, yada yada yada.
Both calls had the same recorded message, so that is why I think the calls are from the same company.
In both cases, I just waited until they got to the "press x to speak to an advisor", and pressed whatever number they said.
The 1st time, the chap I spoke to was friendly, and agreed to get my number marked as "do not call" when I asked him.
This time, as soon as I asked for my number to be marked as "not interested", they hung up on me.
I really think something more needs to be done about the use of auto diallers by companies, in addition to the current Ofcom regulations, which do not go far enough, imo.

Thanks for letting me vent, guys.

I have had a call where I answered and a recorded voice told me it hadn't been able to get through to me!! (this is thought to be better than silent calls?)
You rang me to..er..tell me you rang me..er..confused..as I didn't want to speak to you, perhaps I should have done callback then rung you to tell you to call me back, then answered saying "Hello,no,I am not in."0
