Rail 'e-tickets' for Austrailian tourist friend?
An internet friend (Jeff) is currently traveling the world from Austrailia. So far he has been to America, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany and last week my husband and I were in Prague for 5 days and Jeff came to join us and we spent 3 days together exploring the area.
He is due into London on 30th August and is coming to stay with us for a few days during his tour of UK. He has asked us to try to price up the train fare for him but the cheapest fares seem to be by booking in advance (not entirely sure exactly when he wants to be in our area but he's planning to spend about 3 months in UK) but I'm not sure if the tickets are posted to you or if it would be an e-ticket he could print off in an internet cafe in London.
Or, maybe someone has any tips for him to get the cheapest way to get to Grimsby or even Doncaster and we would then pick him up from there. I do know he's been using a European rail pass but he was going to check if it was valid in UK.
Any help greatly appreciated.

The tickets can be posted to a UK address or at larger stations can be picked up from a machine.
With a few exceptions e-tickets do not exist.0 -

Thanks for the info...
Someone has told me about megabus.com and megatrain.com and I have also had a look on thetrainline.com for prices of train tickets. He won't have a UK address as he'll be staying in various Youth Hostels or traveller's hostels until he makes the journey up to us. I've emailed the infomation to Jeff.

If it helps, thetrainline.com and a couple other sites are now accepting foreign registrants (not needing a UK address). Only thing is, if you register a foreign address you are limited to collecting your tickets at a machine at the station or from the station window. Not a problem for me because I hate standing in line so I opt to collect at the ticket machine.0
