Post code grading for insurance purposes

Is there a way I can know the POST CODE grading, i.e. high risk, low risk etc for insurance purposes?

I believe that in about early 1990 there used to be a leaflet with Endsleigh insurance company which showed the grading of Manchester post codes for insurance purposes. However this type of information I could not find now.

Actually I am planning to move house so I am thinking about insurance factor as well.

Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

I think most types of things like this are kept secret by the insurance company as they don't like giving information on pricing structures/risk asessment out to people.

Why not try an insurance site for a quote, find the postcode of the street or as near as you can and put it in to the site as your postcode. It should then use this to calculate your premium.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

back in the early 90's ( and before) most companies used to have a printed postcode rating card , however as CIS states things these days are often more secret / written into software

You might find someone has kept a old rating guide - remeber that the ratings will only really relate to that company, at that time - and areas / claims history do change

    Try this link:

It's meant for brokers (got it from google!) but it seems to do the job.
Contents is rated 1-20 (1 best, 20 worst), buildings is rated A-T (A being best, T being worst).

It's probably only good for a comparison of different areas, but may give an indication of price.

My house in England doesn't fair so well, even though we are in a plush area! Contents goes down to 5 and buildings goes down to G. <sulk> lol
