Engagement - The proposal!

Hi all, I'd like a bit of info and advice from people.
Me and my girlfriend have decided to get engaged. :j As I'm female too and there won't be the traditional 'man asking woman' we've decided to have a weekend away at a hotel and ask each other on the same day.
Obviously the engagement won't be a surprise, so I'd like some ideas on making the day/night special.
I'd like to hear peoples engagement stories please :D

I knew my OH was going to propose to me, we'd already booked the church! It didn't make it any less special though. He cooked me a lovely meal, bought champagne and even wore a tuxedo! Then after dinner he got down on one knee and told me how special I was and how he he felt like we were meant to be etc... It was beautiful!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Here's our engagement story, complete with photo of me full of cold and a bit teary and emotional! I'd have put a nicer hat on if I'd known...

There's a fair bit of swearing in it if that kind of thing offends you, I should add.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

Thanks! It kind of helps show how nervous he was I think.

Anyway, I was wondering if the hotel you are going to is in the country? Maybe you could go for a romantic picnic if the weather is nice. Or how about some kind of simple treasure hunt to the spot where you propose? I suppose you could do these ideas in a city as well, I just had visions of you going off to the country, I have no idea why!

Well we're not sure where to go yet, but we're leaning towards Blackpool, for the beach & amusements etc
I'd like some ideas along the lines of filling the hotel room with roses or something for her. As the ring won't be a surprise (she's already picked it out lol) I want a few soppy romantic things to surprise her with.

I'm not sure I'm any help, I got engaged in a hired corsa 2 weeks after my OH had fractured his spine and pelvis in a car accident. We were parked beside a tree in Dublin eating chips! Who said romance is dead???!!!!
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:

I got a heart shaped ice cube tray and filled it with melted chocolate instead let it set then wrote on it with icing perhaps thats a nice way to propose for you?

Get a nice bottle of bubbly and two glasses. make yourself a little picnic that you could enjoy back at the hotel of the favourite things you like to eat.

Blackpool tower might still be open you could go to the top there providing your not scared of heights and propose! its really nice up there :)

    hope this helps

Write the message in the sand across the beach??

What about hiding the ring in a box of popcorn?

Do they have a plasma screen or something in Blackpool that you could get a message put up on, or are you going to a show that could announce it?

As you are in blackpool why not try and get a stick or two of rock made? You can have these made beforehand. Will find the web address and post back later.
