freeze it you cant get to it that quick as if you smash the ice you smash the card, if you defrost it in hot water or microwave you will wreck the card the only way you can get to it is letting it sit on the side foe about 24+hours! it works believe me!0

I cut my card up, but then somebody on here said that i was silly as what would i use if an emergency ever come up. How about giving it to a family member? that way you won't be able to spend on it without feeling bad asking them for it back.0

Hi I agree with Pinklady give your card to a family member or a close friend.
At least it won't be so easy to spend on it.
best wishes

Woah a load more replies today!!
Anyways I did it last night. AFter my last post I sat and looked at it for another hour or so and then bit the bullet and cut it up.
Nothng in the past couple of months has been required and the person who called me spendy is spot on!!
If an emergency does come up I have other cards which I don't know the pin and that stay at home in a drawer so I shall survive. Concert tickets and clothes are not an emergency!!
I am also going to close the account asap.
Thanks everyone!! Have set out my plan to clear it all which has depressed me but made me even more determined!!

DOnt just cut up the card, write to them telling them to close the account if the balance is NIL due to balance t'fer to the 0%. I did the cuttingup thing with a card but left the account open "just in case", then transferred a balance onto the "just in case" acoount at 0%, missed a payment by 2 days and now have over £7k a rate of 24.9% on the "just in case" c/c. Wish I had shut the card account down now
Regarding being scared you 'need' something, if the £1500 has gone on unecessary stuff then you don't 'need' itAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm the same way- as soon as I've cleared my cards they are going straight in the shredder! I thought about keeping one for emergencies, but I figure that I'll be such a good DFW by then that I'll have savings0
