I current have a Dell PC with 1GB RAM. I have heard about Ready Boost which can be used to increase PC RAM.
Couple of questions please:-
- Can any USB drives could be used as Ready Boost?
- Is it compatable with Windows Vista Basic?
- What is the maximum usb memory can be used?
Thanks

its cheaper to buy more RAM than a USB stick!!! (depending on the RAM you need)
but to answer your questions
1. No some are not fast enough to be used for ready boost
2. yes every version of Vista (can even do it in Xp with the right software)
3. 4GB is the MAXIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Is that 4 gig INCLUDING ram already installed or a further 4 gig of flash usb ram?
sorry...it will only use a max of 4GB for ready boostIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I bought a 4GB Readyboost stick from Play.com for £9.99 delivered

As people have hinted at, and this all depends on what you're using your computer for, you'd likely be better off installing real RAM before Ready Boost. 1GB is fine for Vista, but if you're prepared to spend money on your hardware to make it better, it would probably be better spent on RAM.
Whilst you're using your computer (ie, not just with the desktop sitting there), go into task manager (right click the bar at the botton on between the start button and the system tray) to see how much RAM is being used. If the 1GB of RAM fills up, it has to use the hard drive, which is much slower.
ReadyBoost doesn't exactly add to the RAM, it just takes on some of the most comonly used system files, so that they can be loaded from the USB drive instead of the hard drive, which will be faster.

I would stick another 1gb in the pc. Similar price to a 4gb USB and will work better
(Aria have 1gb DDR2 for £5+VAT and P&P)0 -
