Hi everyone
As above i've just started a new job and i'm looking to move from lincoln to nottingham within the next 2-3 months. been looking around and have found a particular property that has taken my interest. I'm 20 years old and work full time in as a sales exec with a reasonable salary. what are my chances?
As it's the first time i've ever looked into living on my own was wondering if there was aome honest helpful pointers that could help me out. like
Electric Bills
Council Tax
Water
Gas not needed as its all electric
i don't know what else i've got to account for and don't fancy paying any application fees until i know what i'm in for
The details are as follows
Parry Court (8), Carlton, NG3 2NG the website is called "express lettings"
Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

You might want to start by loking at the Shelter website - they have some excellent advice. try;
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/advice_topics/finding_a_place_to_live
The other thing to consider is that you are doing two big things at once - new job and a new place to live. Both can be scary!! Have you thought of moving somewhere like Newark instead - its not far to Nottingham on the train for work - but also close enough to Lincoln that you can nip home without too much hassle.
This will also give you the chance to meet new people at work, and it may be that there are other people who are looking for flat sharers or lodgers.
Good luck0 -
The original plan was to stay in lincoln and take the train direct to nottingham every day. The problem is the times are all wrong and i may not be finished til 8 at nite with a good hour and a half on the train.
Newark would be interesting as there are much better transport links than lincoln. it's something worth considering
Thanks for the advice0 -
For other bills - water rates, contents insurance, tv licence, phone bill (including possible connection charge) , broadband
That Letting Agent is not AFIAA a member of ARLA so is not a signatory to a code of practice.(Despite dealing with large amounts of money and property worth thousands of pounds LAs don't have to have any training, expertise, qualifications etc.)
There is also a holding fee of around 100 quid to pay out plus an admin charge of £125, plus month's rent in advance, and a bond/deposit equivalent to a month's rent. You don't say whether you are male or female but I would generally avoid ground floor flats in any big city.
Have you thought about trying to find a LL who self-manages his/her properties?
http://www.torent.co.uk/1_Bedroom-properties-for-rent-in-NOTTINGHAM-NG.htm
or the local LL association ( google or yellow pages) or vivastreet
also see http://www.accommodationforstudents.com/landlords/landlords_Nottingham.asp as some of these LLs also let to young professionals, not just to students0
