    Hi

Go to your link . See 'Testing Procedure' Section 18.

I think it would be worth a phone call to Ideal. Not a very helpfull website is it? The 'search' facility seems to be set at 'NOTHING'.

  • I may be misunderstanding you but are you looking at replacing the cold water header tank or the hot water tank?

Replacing the cold water tank will do nothing for you as far as I can see. You would still have the 25g of hot water with the rest being cold.

The main advantage that the Trevi Boost has is that you don't have to worry so much about the hot water pressure as it is augmented by the mains cold.

Either shower would seem to need more hot water to run for a reasonable time (was there an electric shower before?). Once the hot water supply is sorted you need to know if you have sufficient gravity fed pressure for your needs. If not then the Trevi Boost is one solution which may help.

Just so you know I am in the process of fitting a Trevi Boost system and having tested it found that the pressure is very good for our set-up. We only have 1.5m head on the hot water.

I would have thought that if you have previously had no problems running out of hot water then you would be fine with the Trevi. You don't have to have it on full power all the time but I guess there is always temptation.

I personally don't get why a bigger cold water storage tank would prevent airlocks. They fill as they are being emptied so your water would be cold way before you ran the header tank dry if it ever did. I am however not a heating engineer so not qualified to give advice there.

You could always see how it went with the smaller tank and if you are getting issues then replace it with a bigger one as all the pipework in the bathroom would be the same (I would think). With the Trevi you need to decide now in order to plumb the mains cold in.

Anyway good luck with what ever you decide. I agree with you on the increasing cost of hot water but at least a quick shower is better than the baths I have to have at the moment.

    Chris
