Switched socket

I have noticed the twin switched socket in my daughter's new rented flat, the top of the moulded box is badly cracked. They know about it, but is it safe, should she insist they change it? I do not think it affects the inside wiring, the box itself is very cheap to replace but I guess they need to get an electrician to do it and that will be expensive. Thanks

  • As this government have no gumption there is no mandatory requirement to have electrics checked on rental properties.

When I asked I was told gas was a health and saftey matter, but electrics were not

The landlord has a legal requirement to ensure the electrics are in a safe standard, but doesn't have to prove it
    baldly going on...

I guess, since they are aware of it when they did the inventory, they consider it to be safe!! I was just wondering.
