OK - I am seriously considering taking this up as a practical measure! If you don't know what I'm talking about, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-6WfPqB8kU&feature=related

Basically, my office is 3.7 miles from my home. Definitely walkable, but eats a good couple of hours out of my free time per day. Running doesn't suit me very well because I've got poor technique or delicate bones or a combination of both - the impact really affects my hips.

Cycling could be fine, but bikes are bulky and I have nowhere to store one at home - it also involves a few dangerous junctions, dual carriageways etc... and there's no way I'm catching a bus in this City

So, most of the time, I drive. Not very green, not very moneysaving.

Now, surely a pair of these babies will allow me to run to work with much lower joint impact, much much quicker (maybe 25mins instead of 60?) and with no storage issues. In fact, I could even stick them in my car boot when I travel anywhere...

Anyone else see this the way I do, or am I completely off my nut? :rotfl:

...that's certainly another option! Although, aren't they illegal to ride on public pavements? Also, I guess I'm not completely adverse to doing a bit of exercise on the way to work

You'd certainly stand out from the crowd with the powerblocking... I have no idea how easy they are to use, or what the joint impact etc is like.

Personally I'd look into the cycling option a bit more... could you "create" some space to store a bike (e.g. hang it from a ceiling or an external wall)? Or if you can afford it, what about a good quality folding bike such as a Brompton? Are there any alternative routes you could use to avoid the dual carriageway?

Another option might be to buy some good trainers with decent support and book some sessions with a running coach. I recently had a session with a running coach simply because I had never learnt proper technique and I wanted to run better - I'm not training for competitive running or anything. It was quite an informative session, and well worth doing.
