Password Protect Credit Report Search(es)

Is it possible to password protect any credit report searches. By that I mean that if a company (or other) wants to search my credit report (eg. as a result of me requesting some form of credit), they will be required to ask me for my password first in order to proceed.

Does anyone have any practical experience doing this?

I understand that I can sent a Notice of Correction letter to the CRAs requesting that any application for financial products be accompanied by a thumbprint but I think that is not a route that I would wish to undertake.

I figure that if a credit report search cannot be undertaken in the first place without a password, then this safeguard together with vigilance on my credit reports should be adequate.
