Well most card providers do advise to make manual payments on the account until the direct debit is confirmed, usually on the statement.
Whilst i can understand that the bank haven't done what you've instructed did you not think to double check on the account just to ensure that everything is ok?
Your best bet is to pop into your branch and talk to them, if they admit the liability then it'll make it easier for charges etc to be refunded.
Best of luck0 -
So I went on an extended holiday and didn't take my credit card with me. Before I left I set up a DD to pay off the balance in full, and I did this in person at my branch. I have no proof of this - they didn't give me any signed paper or make me sign anything, she just called the credit card people and got them to set it up.
Got a call from CC services last week saying that there was a problem with the card and that it hadn't been paid off for 2 months...
I checked with the bank to see if there was as DD but there was NOTHING!!!! So now I have no idea how much in charges I've racked up and even though I 100% made sure that I set up a DD to cover payments in my absence.
What do I do?? And is there any chance of getting any charges back because it is clearly not my fault? Should I just pay off whatever balance is on the card right away, and then claim back, or get them to remove any
charges and interest from my account?
more info required im afraid, what CC company? what are the charges? did you set the dd for full payment or the minimium ? You must by now have the paper bills? ..............come on do tell?0 -
When you went into the bank to set up the DD did the cc company ask to speak to you to confirm security? it is unlikely the call centre would have accepted the request from someone other that the account holder so i would suggest it was never set up in the first place.
If you explain the situation to the cc company, they will probable refund some of the charges as a good will as long as you haven't had any refunds in the past.0
