The co-op also do a basic account with one.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

They turned me down when I applied for their basic account. God knows why.

Is there a banking equivalent to being "overqualified for the job"?

I'm under the impression the "basic" accounts are mainly for people with a poor credit history to help show they can run an account properly before they're given a "better" account.

On that basis if you had a credit record that was "too good" they would want you to have one of their other accounts so that they could make more money out of you. I would expect them to make more out of people with a normal account than they would from the same person with a "basic" account.

I think there is probably some truth in that.

Not for the Halifax Easycash account. Very easy to apply, and they do not try to push you into having a better account.
    Gone ... or have I?

Well I already have a "full" Halifax account and have just applied for their Easycash account too so when I book flights I am not stung with the higher charges.
