Need urgent help please

Hi, I am going to order the dell dimension offer D1115a for my son for christmas. I need to order today just in case the offer dissapears! What I need to know is - I will be buying a wireless router so that my son can share my ntl broadband connection, will I need to add anything to the dimension 1100 to enable me to do this. I also have a newish dimension 1100. Sorry to sound dumb but I really dont have a clue about computers, its only after reading these forums that I gather I will need a wireless router. Thankyou in advance, Angela.

You dont need to buy anything WITH the PC. And DONT buy the wireless router from Dell. You can get better for cheaper elsewhere.
Just buy the PC that you require. The rest you can buy later. Dont panic :)

Some of the Dell pc's are at good prices, hwoever they often make there money on the extras or upgrades ie from 17" crt to TFT etc. As suggested you can get all the extras such as router and wirelesss pci cards cheaper at other etailors like Ebuyer or Noavtech to name but a few.

Make sure you get what is called a broadband wireless router, as opposed to an ADSL wireless router!

I couldn't see from the specification of the Dell whether it has an inbuilt wireless capability, either on the motherboard or as a PCI card, but if not you might be able to get a deal where the router is bundled with a wireless card for the PC.

Now, I havent got a clue about ethernet all I know is I am on NTL broadband with a USB connection. Can anyone point me in the right direction on which router will work. Thanks again.

Does the NTL modem have an "ethernet" socket on it anywhere? As cable modems usually do.
