A&L help needed re charges and closing account

Hi all, hoping someone can help.

I called A&L 2weeks ago to close my account, they said I neede to pay £14.31 into the account to bring it to zero balance and as soon as that cleared the account would be closed - I just needed to sign a form they would send out.

With no form arriving I decided to ring them again at the weekend only to find that I am still overdrawn due to a no funding charge that they have applied. Now they will not close the account until I pay this and a fee for using my overdraft because of the charge. Now I know this is only £10 but when I was closing the account on the phone I asked the girl to check that there were no further charges due and she said no.

I have tried to complain over the phone to a manager who was really rude and said pay it or else!

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do or am I going to have to pay it?

Thanks (sorry it was a long post!)
