I am thinking of installing a new condensing boiler for my 17 year old old style gas boiler and have a couple of building regs questions.
Firstly-do I need to apply for any type of building regs before the work is carried out (i will be using corgi regstered man)
secondly my job entails liasing with plannign and I am off all this week but I do know that there are some building or planning regs regarding replacing existing boilers and its something to do with how far from the perimeter from your boundary it is but as I am not at work I cant recall what its called. all i can recall is that since the old boiler was installed when hous ewas new the regs ghave changed and any new boiler has to be a ceratin distance from boundary. If anyone can help on this I would be grateful

Your contractor should ensure that the work he does complies with building regs.
ou don't need to apply to Building Control as the installer should give you a Building Control Compliance Certificate, which confirms that the work complies with the regs. Check that he will be doing this. You just keep this certificate as proof that the work was compliant.
Not aware of anything that points to location of the boiler - obviously, it must be on your land and accessible; and the manufacturer will specify clearance distances to ensure good ventilation.
You're not confused with the regulations that require an oil tank to be a certain distance away from the property, are you?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Good morning: Detailed info on requirements is available at the Planning Portal and the Energy Saving Trust
Further info on the Building Regs Compliance Certificate is also available from CORGI .

thanks for that. Its document j i was thinking of. Had a look at page 43 and it seems that the flue should be 600 (i presume mm) from the boundary so its that i was trying to remember0
