Travel insurance (one-way ticket - not emmigration)

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me.
I'm going on my gap year, i'll be going to Thailand + Japan, for a total of around 9 months.
I'm trying to find travel insurance, however it is proving difficult for me. I'm trying to find insurance for myself, however I only have a one-way ticket. The reason is because I'm not sure when I will be coming back to UK - i'm playing my gap year by how my money goes.
Does anyone know any good, cheap companies/websites that can help me?
Thanks

I use insureandgo.com. You have options for worldwide cover and I think they also have something called "backpackers" insurance that might be suitable for you.
When I have bought insurance before, I've never been asked if I have a one way or return ticket so not sure if that really is of relevance.0 -
it's highly relevent, in that most travel policies state that you have to start and finish your trip in the UK, which therefore precludes one way trips. One problem with this is related to where you are repatriated to in the event of a medical problem, if you are coming back to the UK then it's not a problem, but if you're travelling on the way to live in Aus for example where would they send you back to for care?
You may not hae been asked about 1 way trips in the past but it's almost certainly part of the contract...if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0
