    Hi Kaat,

This thread might give you some ideas:

    Sosmix Anyone?

  • Hi Kaat

Ok this is what I used to make for my nephews who are both vegetarians and they loved it. I found them quite tasty though of course nothing tastes as good as real sausage meat!!:rotfl:

I can't tell you amounts cos I did it by eye rather than measurements...

To the Sosmix I added some sage and onion stuffing mix, a chopped chilli and some finely chopped onion and apple. Plus black pepper and a dash of worcestershire sauce. I would sometimes add tomato ketchup depending on my mood...

Then add the boiling water. Obviously you will have to add more than the packet says, but you can judge this by eye. You want it thick enough to be able to shape into little patties.

I then wet my hands, shape them into patties, dunked them in some milk and then some seasoned breadcrumbs and shallow fried them for about.. umm.. I think it was 10 mins or so(?)

Anyway, even I ate these so it might be worth a try before you give up and throw them all out..

    Good luck

Hi Kaat, could you open a pack use a bit and stick the rest in an airtight box.
Not tried it myself, but would it bulk out a bolognaise style mix.
Don't know if OH is veggie though.

I can remember when sosmix was about the most exotic veggie thing around lol! I bought a whole load reduced to 10p a pack a while ago, so we're eating it again after a gap of about 10years!

I make it into a meat loaf type thing, adding a can of toms, an egg and fried onions, peppers and mushrooms, and extra liquid as needed. Also add some herbs and chilli to taste. Then I either bake it in a bread tin or do individual ones in muffin tins. I serve it with a tom sauce - toms, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper.

Can you not make sausage rolls with it then freeze them? When I've used it I also mix i with sage and onion stuffing, perhaps another flavour stuffing would be nice if you don't like S&O.

I make sausage rolls then freeze them uncooked on a tray. Once they are frozen I transfer them to a bag.

Have you still got it, or have you managed to use it?
