Hi - I've got a fujifilm A920 9.0 megapixel camera. Took a picture today facing towards someone who took a picture at the same time (with flash). Display screen went blank white. Not LCD screen problem as still displays pictures previously taken but will not take new pictures - just displays same blank screen (sometimes with purple haze down left-hand side). How bad is this? Can I replace part of the camera to get it working again or is it beyond hope? Have tried taking batteries out and replacing; no change.

Sounds a bit like a problem with the CCD (Charge Coupled Device - the camera's imager). Try tapping the camera to see if that makes any difference. If not, I suspect it's beyond economic repair. I don't think it'd be to do with taking a picture at the same time as someone else with a flash, I've done that many a time!
However, if it is beyond repair you can still sell it on Ebay and get a few quid for it for spares, people will buy it for the accessories or parts like the LCD.Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -
The camera is only software, can you reset it or update / reinstall the firmware?0

As its not a very old camera is it still under guarantee? if so check with Fuji.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Maybe it needs a few days to settle down; perhaps the CCDs got super charged? And may discharge itself be leaving the battery and memory card out for a few days...Nothing to lose by trying?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0
