Washing maching problem with fabric softner

Options
Hi All
Looking for advice before i have to spend money to get washing machine man out to look at my Service Easylogic machine which is 2 and a half years old.

Over the past week i have noticed that the fabric conditioner compartment isnt emptying ( I dont always use conditioner, i sometimes use vineger )
Every time i put a wash on ( normally 40 degrees ) once its finished the liquid or vinegar is still in the compartment.

I have removed the whole drawer and cleaned it, thinking some gunk may have been causing a block, put a load of washing on and still the same.

Thought it was because it may be something deeper stuck in machine, boiled kettle once machine had finished and poured the whole kettle of boilling water into the fabric compartment and it took all the water no problem.
Put another wash on and yet again fabric softner compartment still not empting .

Any suggestions to what i can do, or is it time to get the washine machine man out in case its a sensor or something else deep in the machine.
Other than that the machine works well

Any ideas ?????

I get this problem every six months or so and solve it by getting an old stiff toothbrush and cleaning the holes in the roof of the conditioner tray... there are tiny holes above where the conditioner goes and they get blocked with gunk... I once even had to get a curved darning needle and poke the holes with that to clear them... but when I do it the conditioner disappears fine again ... until the next time....

  • I have exactly the same problem.

My conditioner compartment is supposed to have a little filer thingy which I lost when cleaning the drawer one day, not sure if this is affecting it but dont think so as its only been happening recently.

I had a lovely machine that stopped working. Needed a new drum which worked out more than what the machine cost originally. Got another machine but it isn't the best as I had to make do with what I could on limited funds.

I've scrubbed all the drawer with a toothbrush, de-gunked the holes, run the machine on a very hot wash but it still hasn't helped. The compartment fills with water so I know there isn't a problem there, its the empty part I have a problem with.

I've now started to stop my machine when it gets to the rinse cycle and fill one of them ball thingys up with conditioner and place it directly in the machine.

  • er it works by a syphon action. There should be a removable plastic cap/top in the conditioner tray that you can pull off, clean out, plus the small hole. Not difficult, are you saying you dont have it because without one it wont work.

You could use Bold so you don't need separate conditioner:D

    Hi there
There is a removable cap, which i have taken off and cleaned, and put back together, took the whole drawer out today and looked at the roof, not overly dirty but got the old toothbrush out and scrubed the top as well.
When i last cleaned drawer out i thought by putting boiling water down the conditioner slot that it would unclog anything that was lurking lower than what i can get at, but its still not clearing the conditioner away.
I have scrubbed the top part off machine once the whole drawer unit has been removed and will see if that does anything .

Any other ideas would be great
    Many thanks

Can you tell if the water is going into the conditioner compartment during rinse? I usually pull the drawer out very slightly and have a peek. If its not going in then could be a valve failure. Also, have you changed your brand recently? I know some machines cant cope with concentrated conditioners very well, you have to dilute them a little.

My machine has had this problem for a couple of years, so I haven't used fabric conditioner for a couple of years and to be honest I haven't noticed a bit of difference.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

To be honest i havent looked but i will the next time a wash goes on, I take it if the water isnt going in then it will be a valve ( is this expensive ??? , will it affect the overal machine if i dont use the conditioner section)

I havent changed brand i use lenor, and more often now i use vinegar and i started to think it was me trying to save money with the vinegar that has made this suddenly appear, but after reading the posts its more common than i thought.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look in drawer when i put wash on next

I have just spent 20 mins scrubbing the top of the washing machine when the drawer compartment was out, the holes above the fabric softner secton were slightly black and i had a few cotton buds at the ready to try and un clog them.

Had it on a rince cycle as its starting to become an obsession now, and water is going into the 3rd compartment ( pre wash ) and not the fabric conditioner drawer, if i put boiling water into the fabric drawer it will drain, so parhaps it is a valve ???

I am going to put machine on a boil wash and see is my scubbing the top part with all the little holes will have done anything if i put it on to boil.

If it still wont take conditioner i can either, not bother with conditioner / vinegar

or pay the washingmachine man to come out and look at it
