Blackpool

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice but reasonable to stay in Blackpool for October half term to see the lights please? Need to book 2 rooms, one single & one family. I have been looking online & have emailed a fair few hotels/B&B's but had very little replies so far.

Also, does anyone know what places in Blackpool take Tesco CC vouchers? Tower, Zoo, Pizza Hut, Sealife - any others?

Thanks in advance

If you are looking for cheap and cheerful. I suggest "The Windmill Hotel" on the Promonade, especially if you are going with children as the owners are fantastic. Its basic but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

The other place I have stayed is the Sandpiper on Withnell Road. Its absolutely spotless, though books up early as its so lovely.

I stayed in both of these with my on recently.

If you want to ask me any questions, feel free =)

  • Thanks for the input pink princess, although my eldest DD likes the rides with having a young child with us & no other adult keen on these we've never been to the Pleasure Beach before but will look into it.

Snoopysox I have already emailed The Sandpiper - do you have details for The Windmill Hotel please? Feel free to PM me if you prefer

    Thanks very much x

We now have a Travel lodge in Blackpool! Its near the football ground on Bloomfield Rd. Pretty central.
  • Looked at Travelodge & was quoted £480 for 4 nights without breakfast - think it's a rip off really!

    Thanks anyway

Depending on how important money etc is:

voted number one B&B in the country. I only know this because of a stuck up soon to be ex mother in law! I live here and its only place she'd stay.

Best advice i can give you is if you fancy a coffee or a cheapish dinner is visit the solaris building for lunch. If you go in on a weekend my mums in charge and the prices are sooo cheap. Its a little further south than the pleasure beach (about 5mins walking). You can park for pleasure beach here free too! Its opposite a great big mirror ball on the promenade.

PS NEVER stay in the Norbreck Castle! And cafe rouge and pizza hut in town for tesco vouchers. Avoid the sea life, its over in 5 mins plus take a tram journey and the back of the ticket gives you buy one get one free entry.

Pontins is cheap and basic but we went recently and although from the outside it looks pretty shabby the accommodation was lovely and clean they also have all the amenities but we didn't really use them as mostly went into Blackpool but it worked out much cheaper to stay at Pontins than a B&B/hotel.

Depending when your half term is there are promotions available where you get a free child place with any adult. It is also half board so breakfast and evening meal is included in the price. http://pontins-blackpool.com/searchresults.php?month=10&length=any&x=45&y=25
  • Thank you Kazzajr, have looked at that but at £198 per adult for 4 nights it's a bit pricey for me.

I think we've found a lovely hotel, with good reviews online, not far from the Tower for £280 for 4 nights B&B for the whole group which I think is really good so just waiting on the rest of the group getting back to me now so I can book it.

Still after any places to use the Tesco vouchers if anyone knows any please, got quite a lot to use so hoping not to have to pay much out at all whilst we are there if we can help it.

You can also eat at Bella Italia in Blackpool using Tesco Deal Tokens.
