Hi
I have just bought one of these off ebay and am wondering if it is OK. It has software version 3.10 and audio version 2.50.
When turned on outside it takes up to 2 minutes to find the satellites - is that normal ?
Every time it is turned on there is a reminder to update the maps which are out of date, being over a year old - it currently has city navigator Europe NT V9. I would like to update the maps but the cost would be more than the unit cost me so cannot really be justified. Do I need to update the maps as I would have thought that the current data from I think 2006 should be fine. Is there any way apart from buying an upgrade to stop the map update warning message and would the fact that the maps are not totally up to date slow down the satellite recognition process.
Thanks
Rob

It's quite normal for the sat nav to take a couple of minutes to get a good signal, I have a Garmin Nuvi 250 and that takes 2-3 mins to get a signal, which you have to generally be outside for the signal from the satelites to be strong enough.
The map date shouldn't slow the sat acquisition down either btw, just annoying when that message keeps popping up!Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -
It will take much less on subsequent start-ups especially if it's got batteries in (to store almanac data) and has good view of the sky. There is a way to get rid of the notification screen. I can't remember how but you'll find it on:
