No hot water !!!

Right, I've been having a battle with the CH system and hot water since changing a rad, where i had to drain down system etc etc. I've been back to try to sort it again since having some advice from putting my problems on here ..... thanks for that by the way.

I managed to get all the rads nice and hot ( I needed to turn up the thermostat in order for the boiler to kick in ....and subsequently this meant that the pump kicked in and therefore pumped the hot water round the system !!!).

I then switched the programmer to HOT WATER, and was hoping that the pipe into the side of the cylinder would start to get hot and provide hot domestic water. I left this over night. Still no hot water !!!!!

Having had conversations with various people, it sounds like the only thing left that it could be is the ...two (or is it 3) valve port. This is what turns to shut off and open up for hot water, central heating or both. If this isn't working or is seized then that is why the hot water isn't getting thru ??

Can this be the only option left ??? I'm running out of hair to pull out !!!

Help !!

Have you bled the air out of the coil in the hot water cylinder?

Does the boiler light when hot water is selected?
Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D
  • How do you bleed the coil in the HWC ??
... and, to be honest, I didn't notice whether the boiler lit when hot water selected ...if it didn't, what would that mean ? ....or if it did, what would that mean ???

If the boiler fires when selecting HW the motorised valve is probably ok.

If you can find you motorised valve ,(after the pump), follow the pipe that goes to the hot water cylinder at some point there should be a short vertical stub with a cap on it this is for bleeding the coil in the cylinder with the system turned off.
