    If memory serves right it costs £5 for a list of all the previous vehicle owners.
    You could try writing to each one and seeing if they are polite enough to reply.

    In this case he denied that the car had been in an accident though he was perfectly aware this was not the case. I think the seller still has a responsibility to accurately describe the product being sold. Were you to be involved in a subsequent accident not only would you likely face greater risk of injury but may also discover that insurers would not pay out because the car was previously listed as having been written off.

    Yes but in a private sale you have a chance to inspect the goods to see if they match the description given, this also includes the chance to perform an HPI check.

    If you accept the goods you buy them, and that is the end of it, as you accept that the description given is correct
