Have you spoken to CCCS or Payplan?? One of the free debt charities? It is important as you must have taken professional advice before you submit your petition to court. There are links on the main BR board page at the top.

Hi CArdinalfire, have you taken any advice from CCCS or National Debtline? How old are your children? They could probably open accounts in their own name - my children had their own accounts when they were about 4 or 5. I have never been a signatory on their accounts either.

Absolutely, it doesn't matter how much is in her account, its her money and you don't want it getting involved in your potential bankruptcy (you may need to borrow it from her at some point hehehe).

Glad you are taking advice. Any more worries or questions ask away. Oh, is your appointment with a debt specialist at the CAB, if you didn't specify phone them up or it will be a waste of your time and of 2 weeks.

Good that you're seeing a debt specialist. Worrying is normal and it would be easy for me to say don't worry. I really wasn't worried when I was going Br because I had read this forum front to back and felt I knew everything that was coming. Everything so far has happened exactly (more or less!) as I had anticipated.

  • Because ive been reading what happens I feel as though I am quickly getting to grips with what does happen much thanks to this forum...i just cant help feeling guilty though, like ive failed, scared of the creditors etc....i also feel stupid and wish I maybe hadnt made some of the decisions that have led me to get the debt to such a place where its overwhelming and I have no life. I havent had a life for 2 yrs trying to sort it out, now facing reality, i havent gotten anywhere and im left feeling vulnerable, isolated and lonely - i just dont feel as though I could continue like this struggling to pay anything off when in reality im building more up because i dont have enough money - its such a vicious horrible circle is debt i hate it

First of all, I wouldn't worry about a creditor saying they wouldn't have extended credit if they'd known about your other loan. Quite simply, they did know about it and extended the credit anyway - they must have performed a credit search.

Having said that, I can't see how that circumstance would happen anyway.

    Good luck.

I agree with that RichOneday - I've never filled in an application that asks what other credit I have - that is what the credit search is for and if they didn't find out thats their problem, i'd forget about it.
