Here I Go! BR Interview on 27/08/08

Well since last posting, MrsWildr, the Kids & I have moved into rented accomodation and I've contacted the Mortgage Co. about handing the keys to our old place back. I'm being hassled some 20-30 times a day by the few people I owe money to (just not answering the phone now), as CCCS advised I 'keep my head down' until I can get the BR interview sorted.

Unfortunately it took longer to get the appointment than I expected and I'm going through all the paperwork again. I know the Court/OR state that they want all the paperwork relating to my accounts (personal, I'm not a business BR!), but do I have to take EVERYTHING with me, or just the most recent statements, bills, threatening letters etc?

Also I've read elsewhere here that some peoples BR took just a couple of hours - is this common, or is it likely to be longer?

I'll update with my progress as my journey continues!

Many thanks again to all who've PM'd and responded to our questions here.

Okay, so you're not bankrupt yet then I would take the advice of CCCS and just not answer your phone between 8am and 9pm daily. It depends on your court as to how long it takes. I went to the Royal Courts of Justice in London and I got there at opening time and it took until 3pm although I didn't have to stay the whole time. My OR interview was about 2 weeks later.

You won't need to take any of that stuff to court on your BR day that will be for the OR interview later.

    Hi

Firstly - dont worry - teh day in court is easy in relation to everything else.

the actual court date of BK for me took about 2 hours, from getting there, chekcing teh docs and waiting for a slot with teh judge, and the OR interview took just under 2 hours for me - have a read of my post 'my long bankrupcy story so far'

Also, there is a letter that you can write to your creditors and ask them to communicate by post onl and to erase our number from their database/profile, can anyone help with the template for this? It may not be worth our while as your BK hearing may be quicker?

    Princess/5YP,

Thanks both for taking time to reply! I duly filled in the SOA etc today - broke it up into 3 sessions to try and prevent getting too stressed or demoralised and I think that *almost* worked!

I'm really worried about tomorrow now - not so much the BR itself, just what to do if they refuse BR. I've been told that having sought assistance from CCCS and that they advised BR (in writing) it should be almost a done deal (so to speak), but my glass definitely seems half empty tonight.

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe that my County Court has an arrangement with OR to allow BR's to be dealt with on same day (their offices are about 100 yards apart), which I'm actually hoping for - get it all done in one (probably verrrryy long) day.

Anyway, I'll report back tomorrow night and let anyone who's interested know the outcome.
