Strange !!!

Options
Hi,

I had to reload Windows XP on my machine as the hard drive had died. Everything seems to be back to normal, however, for some strange reason, when I go to put my password in at my login name, there is an "EN" showing to the right of this. My password contains the @ key and when I log off and log back on later I have to type the " key (Above the 2 which is also the American @ key) . This is as if it is the American keyboard but I have checked all settings and they are for United Kingdom, as they should be. It seems to alternate between the @ key and the " key to accept my password every time I log in. I never know which one it is going to accept.

I had the problem when I was running with servicepack2 and have since upgraded to SP3 in the past week. Problem still there !!

Can somebody please put me out of my misery.

Thanks.

  • Your keyboard layout is probably set to US English. You'll probably find this 'EN' in the taskbar also, click on it and select UK English, it should then stay set on this until changed again.

This is one thing I hate about all the US-dominated software, it all defaults to US English defaults, and it really annoys me when installing something the only English option is 'US English'! Sorry, rant over :p

In future when you install just select ENGLISH on all the options (Though it MUST use the yank keyboard at first but will later delete itself)
