Missed Payment

I missed a payment and then realised and paid it a few days late. Apart from that I have made the payments well in advance. Will I have a poor credit rating because of this?
I have never missed payments before, only bank charges from direct debits.
Also if there a way of checking your credit rating for free?
Thanks

I doubt one missed payment would do much damage to your credit rating. And you can check your credit file for free. Experian and Equifax offer trial periods - just make sure you cancel before you are charged.0

As long as you made up for the missed payment, your credit rating will not be affected.0

I agree a single late payment won't damage your Credit Rating.
Capital One even allow for one late payment as part of their very strict "excellent credit rating" criteria for their Platinum Card.
Missed Payments are another story however.0
