Yeah, from my experience if it's got a camera on it, it'll be about 10/20 yards before the lights and looks like a speed camera. And yes, it would have flashed. I think you're ok :)

Also, for the record, the traffic light cameras can also act as speed cameras - I found out the hard way...

so the smaller tube looking things on the lamps wont be a camera? im guessing theyre a sensor for traffic but didnt know if they double up as a camera

Not 100% sure but I think you're right in saying they're sensors for the traffic. According to http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/traffic-light-camera.htm it seems so too :)

How the hell does the layout of a road changing alter whether or not you can see a red light? You drive down the road. You come across a big stick on either side of the road with a box on the top with three lights in it and a white line across the road. When the red light is on, you stop behind the white line. When it's green, you set off. Simple as. It isn't rocket science.

So what you're saying is that if you were driving somewhere you'd never been before, you'd merrily go through every red light because you didn't know the layout.

You're unfit to be driving on the roads as you're clearly incompetent. If I were you, I'd be booking some lessons with a learner school as you obviously need them.

    Steady Conor,

When you said you drove thro' a redlight how do you mean?

Asked because I understand that any camera will operate within 2 seconds of the switch to red, which to be honest is a loooooong time if someone is jumping the red the oposite way:A
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I haven't changed. Trying to claim a change of road layout is a reasonable excuse to go piling through a red light is just laughable.

Unless you know the layout exactly shut up! Maybe he was watching the wrong light, I did it once years ago at a junction where there were at least 3 sets of lights on the one junction and the lanes had been changed. It was also an offset junction. I looked at the wrong one as I drove up and ran a red, honest mistake, no one died, I did not need more lessons. I didn't need a lecture from a sad git on an internet forum either, go figure.
