Can anybody comment on this laptop for £650. Thanks

Sounds rather expensive for a Moneysavingexpert reader but generally most Sony stuff is overpriced for the spec!

I would personally recommend Acer or HP as I have had experiance of those.

see Link for example. This Value package incluses a case, flash drive and a card reader.

I have just bought one of the Belkin XL cases that is included in that package and it is a really good, useful and protective case.

Money Saving is about cutting bills not cutting back. It's about being a sassy consumer

IMO that means not necessarily buying the cheapest version of a product , but getting the best price for the particular product that you want to buy

I'm not trying to be argumentative here , but that Acer that you linked to is not that much cheaper and only has 256MB RAM whereas the Sony has 512 and only 60GB as opposed to 80GB hard drive , so I don't think the Sony looks bad value compared to that.

I like to buy products by Sony , Panasonic etc , but I like to get them at the best price icon7.gif

Thanks. £650 is the normal price, MSE price would be £550 which I think is a good deal!??

I know Sony is expensive but I already have mobile, MP3 and camera from them and you do get what you pay for.

Well as you are a Sony consumer you won't agree but you don't get what you pay for when it comes to specification and value for money from Sony products!

    :rotfl:

I admit that do not like Sony myself and would not buy a Sony digital camera for instance, because as usual Sony has to be different and they use their own type of non proprietary memory stick, which again is more expensive than other camera equivalent memory.

Being different does not always work for them - remember Betamax video recorders?

If you have already decided to buy Sony, then why ask?

    Cool your jets icon7.gif

He's probably asking for comments on the spec not on the fact it's a Sony

    You sure?

As for the laptop - if you want that spec you could get it cheaper than 650, if you want that spec an sony branding then you could prob get it down to 600 with a few shopbot searches and using cashbacksite.
