Electric steamer vs One gas hob

Hi could anyone tell me what they think would be the cheapest to run an electric steamer or a steamer that you use on a gas hob.

Like the idea of an steamer as you can cook a whole meal in one contraption which must be the cheapest way of cooking.

Thank you

Hi Leon...my Tefal steamers costs 4.32pence per half hour session and like you say does a complete meal and some for the freezer.
£15 a year and probably less as don't cook every day.
Then the microwave for reheating or soft meals like rhubarb.
A gas hob will want servicing/certificating every year. (say £20).
You need to cook a whole meal using a gas hob steamer and measure gas units used.

There is a thread on steamers on Money saving Old Style

The general consensus is gas hob is much better, electric is fiddly and generally not as good as metal pans on a gas hob

What on earth is this gas hob servicing? That surely is one big advantage of gas hobs, they work, and work, and work, for years, and years, and years. All without servicing or problems

If the flame is blue then all is well, if it is yellowish then burner probably needs a clean out with soap & water
