exchanging pc software (tesco)

sorry if wrong forum, please change if it is....

ok i bought a pc game from tescos, tried to install it and it turns out my pc doesnt meet the minimum spec :o

went back to swap for another one but they wont change it due to `unlicenced copying`
they would give me another copy of the same game but thats no good

i argued my case for a while but she wasnt budging.

what are my rights here?
i always thought that any item whatever it is can be exchanged no questions asked provided you have the reciept??
while i apreciate that folks do copy stuff and try and give them back thats not always the case.
so am i !!!! out or should i fight my corner??

thanks.

The woman at Tesco's is correct. Once opened you cannot return software unless the product is faulty.

Find someone to give the game to as a present or someone who will buy it off you with a few pounds reduction.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • I would have thought it would be a case of tough luck , you really should have checked out the minimum spec requirements before buying the software . But I maybe wrong , if I am someone is bound to point it out . Sorry this isn't what you wanted to hear !
Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

    .

    No that's certainly not correct.

I think your only hope would be if the minimum specs were incorrect, but that's very unlikely. Although I sympathise that minimum specs are difficult to understand for PC games, they are published before you buy and it's not really Tesco's problem that you didn't make sure you met those specs. Sorry!

    You are not wrong.

Every shop states software is exempt from it's exchange policy.

you lose because you never checked the game against your spec BEFORE purchasing.

sell on the game and upgrade your comp OR buy games your machine can handle.

How are you expecting them to know which ones have and which ones haven't?

PC games are tempermental beasts, I find it best to download a demo (if there is one) before deciding to buy

there are demos for the majority of games and there are a list of the specs required on the back of the case of the game iin question

i can actually get it to play on my pc but handles like a bag of nuts :o

further investigation on a forum for the game and i find its been slated for poor performance for a not perticulaly high spec game

i guess a few tweaks here and there and maybe a patch or 2 and it will be fine :money:
