With online purchases you are covered by the 'distance selling' rules which mean that retailers have to operate a money-back policy for the first seven days [and many extend that period]

If you ordered something today, it will not have been charged at all - the transaction has simply been earmarked
    (taken off your available balance).

In your case, due to some glitch in the system, the amount was put aside twice. In all probability,
that additional earmarking will fall off, once the charge comes through (probably on Tuesday).

Should that not happen, contact your bank. Very unlikely, that the charge will go through twice.
  • Hi,

I once had a payment to EoN go through twice when paying through their automated system with a debit card. When I checked online I looked like this  it was a winter bill (and had put me into an unauthorised overdraft - which I wasn't charged for...) as it turned out there was a problem with meastro and lots of payments on the same date had been taken twice.

I think the best bet is to contact your bank and query it with them - it may not be the company that you purchased from fault.

I agree that you won't know if you have been charged twice until the transactions actually appear on your account.

Once I paid for some groceries and there was a problem with the card machine so the cashier swiped my Debit Card twice. I was suspicious so contacted the bank and they confirmed that there were 2 identical Pending transactions from the shop, however only one actually went through, the other "fell off".

So wait until the transaction(s) are on your account, and if there are 2 then contact you bank and ask them to chargeback one of them.
